CUMANN LUTHCHLEAS GEAL

In this semi final against the city Alan Busteed had a point with in a minute of the start. It was to be twenty minutes before we scored again and that was a Paul Haughney special. In between it was all Seandun. We shipped a lot of pressure as the city boys tried to extend their lead of 1-2. Captain and fullback Pat O’Brien kept us in the game. Slowly we started to get on top. A free from Eoin O’Sullivan started our revival. Then master switch of Joe Cashman to centre field and Haughney to the forty paid dividends when Cashman sent the ball goal wards where Busteed scrambled it to the net. A minute later on the stroke of half time Haughney pointed to give our lads the lead for the 1st time 1-4 to 1-3.
The second half opened as the 1st closed with another Haughney point. The City replied with a minor after three minutes. No side scored again until the 19th minute when John Cronin ended the stalemate with a point. In between Imokilly survived a goalmouth melee as the ball ran along the goal line only to run safely wide. Now with Thomas Crowley, Anthony Cronin and Joe Cashman on top the Imokilly forwards had more ball to work with. As a result Busteed, Haughney and the afore mentioned Cashman pointed to see us into the final against Avondue
