MUSKERRY 0-9 IMOKILLY 3-14

Don’t believe the scoreboard for half of this game we were under pressure it was nick and tuck. Muskerry opened the scoring after a minute two minute’s later Imokilly replied with a Stephen O’Brien Goal. The impressive centre forward Stephen Moore added a minor as did captain Conor Lehane from a placed ball in between Muskerry had one. Conor added two more to stretch the lead but back came the Mid Cork boys with two of their own only for the outstanding play of our back division Imokilly were in trouble to the fore front were Colm Cronin and Georgio. On the 24th minute Brian Hartnett pointed a mighty effort. Barry Lawton started to motor for Imokilly up front but still Muskerry cameback with two more unanswered points leaving a single point in it at half time.
If it took Imokilly 30 minutes to score 1-5 in the 1st half a goal and a point from a long range free from Tommy Wallace followed by minors from Hartnett and Moore happened with in two minutes of the restart (1-4 in two minutes).
With Wallace and Hartnett now on fire Imokilly drove on and only allowed Muskerry two points in the second half while scoring 3-9 themselves. Imokilly’s third goal came from the stick of Barry Lawton and what a goal it was well worth the travel just to see it. Muskerry came again but a semi penalty save by William McCarthy saw them off now for the City on Mon night
